The Meskwaki Nation was reported to use the roots of Z. aurea for fevers and compounds containing leaves for headaches.

Notes:

Not only is this beautiful member of the carrot family excellent for gardens and wet soil restoration projects, but they are also the larval host for the black swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes).
